Goblin Loot Generator

Pocket change for every goblin, the boss's stash and the junk goblins treasure.

Roll treasure

Quick start:
Group

1 creature. Each one rolls pocket change on the table of its own CR; "no coins" creatures only set the lair's CR.

Lair hoard

Rolls on the hoard table of the strongest creature: CR 1/4, CR 0–4

Dice

Or roll real dice and type the result

Every creature rolls one d100 on the Individual Treasure table of its own CR.

  • Rules as written. Every die follows the treasure tables in chapter 7 of the 2014 Dungeon Master's Guide: Individual Treasure, Treasure Hoards in four CR bands and Magic Item Tables A to I. Each roll shows the row it landed on, so you can check it against the book.
  • Your dice, not ours. Roll at the table and type every d100 and coin die in; nothing is decided for you unless you leave it empty.
  • Linked to the rules. A magic item opens its SRD card, a gem or art object its description, a creature its stat block.
  • Made for play. Lock the finds you like and reroll the rest, print item cards for your players, and share a link that replays the exact roll.
  • Free, no account. Every roll is made fresh in your browser.

How this generator works

Goblins are CR 1/4, so each one rolls on the Individual Treasure table for CR 0–4 of the Dungeon Master's Guide: a d100 decides whether it carries copper, silver, electrum, gold or a few platinum pieces. That is all a goblin has on it: in the DMG, individual treasure is coins only.

The real loot is in the lair. Tick Lair hoard and it rolls on the table of the strongest creature in the group, usually the boss: a pile of coins, and a d100 on the hoard table for gems or art objects and the magic item rolls. On top of the tables, this page adds goblin junk: flavour objects worth a copper or nothing, which do not count toward the treasure.

Questions

How much gold does a goblin carry?

About 5 gp worth on average. The CR 0–4 Individual Treasure table gives 5d6 cp on 01–30, 4d6 sp on 31–60, 3d6 ep on 61–70, 3d6 gp on 71–95 and 1d6 pp on 96–00.

Do goblins drop magic items?

Not from their pockets: individual treasure in the DMG is coins only. Magic items come from a hoard. In the goblin boss's CR 0–4 hoard, a d100 of 37 or more adds rolls on Magic Item Table A, B, C, F or G.

What is goblin junk?

Flavour from this site, not a DMG table: a rat-skull necklace, a stolen town watch badge, a crude map. It gives players something to talk about and can hook the next adventure. It does not count toward the treasure value.

Do I need to know the CR of each creature?

No. Set how many of each creature are in the group and every one rolls on the table of its own challenge rating: a goblin warrior (CR 1/4) and a hobgoblin captain (CR 3) both use CR 0–4, a creature of CR 5 or more the richer table. The lair hoard uses the highest CR in the group.
